Out on Court 2,
Anna-Lena Groenefeld of Germany has eliminated 4th seed
Sorana Cirstea of Romania.
Sorana Cirstea of Romania has lost the first set against Germany’s
Anna-Lena Groenefeld in a tiebreak. Serving at 6-5, the big-serving German double-faulted on set point and missed a drop shot to be broken back, but won the ensuing tiebreak 7-3. However Cirstea gained an early break in the second set and took it 6-3 to push the match into a decider. Cirstea could not keep her errors down, and it was the German, a former top-20 player, who advanced to the second round where she will face qualifier
Chang Kai-Chen of Chinese Taipei after eliminating Sorana with 7-6 3-6 6-3.
Sorana is still active in the doubles tournament, however as this week last year Sorana won the Tashkent tournament, so because of her early elimination in Seoul, she will lose quite some points.
